The visual impact of climate change on glaciers

As a photographer, I have spent more than a decade capturing the majestic beauty of Swiss mountains and glaciers. In the process, I've been privileged to experience firsthand the alarming rate at which these icy monoliths are retreating.

I often say, "Glaciers serve as giant fever gauges for our planet, mercilessly showing us the consequences of climate change." This quote reflects my firm belief in the power of visual images to tell the most important stories. Glaciers, in their simple, quiet beauty, reveal the truth about the state of our planet in a way that words struggle to capture.

I strongly believe that glaciers will become the ultimate reference against greenwashing. Their change in length and volume will truly reflect the effectiveness of our global climate actions. If the glaciers keep melting, we'll know our collective efforts aren't enough.

Over the years, I have watched crevasses change shape, glacier surfaces shift, and ice masses move in ways that are both awe-inspiring and harrowing. The change I am witnessing is not just about the size of the glaciers. It is about the profound changes in our world, the consequences of our actions, and the need to respond.

I dedicate a part of my life to photographing these changes, creating a collection of photos is not just about the beauty of our world. I hope, or rather wish, that they serve an important purpose - to inspire and motivate action and contribute to the important global conversations about climate change.

I invite you to join me on this journey. Explore the images, share the knowledge, and consider your impact. Our glaciers are speaking. It is time for us to listen to them.
There is plenty to be done for the years to come, photography is only one part, just posting the photos on social media will not have the impact we need.
