Big Wave Surfing not only for Big Boys

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph Kalani, the waterman deeply admired by the big wave surfing community. Amidst the shoot, a young surfer named Hermine just back in the harbour from surfing the big waves of Nazaré popped in the team base her hair was still wet, her face beaming with joy.

I couldn't resist asking her to step in front of the camera. 'Let's see what we capture,' I said. And wow, did she deliver! Big wave surfing isn't just a sport for the 'big boys'—it's a team effort, and young women like Hermine are pioneering their way into this exhilarating, rapidly evolving discipline.

Hermine is a true inspiration to women everywhere, proving that hard work and determination can carve out a place for them in any male-dominated field.
