Description of the artwork

Early in the morning on the Tschierva Glacier, shortly after sunrise. The cold bites into my hands, and the air is fresh, but the atmosphere is simply magical. In these moments, I'm torn between enjoying the beauty and concentrating on capturing it with my lens.

Composition is key - arranging the elements in the image to tell a story, to capture the essence of this icy landscape. There's so much to consider: the interplay of light and shadow, the balance of contrasts, and the search for the perfect composition. Doubts arise - is there a better angle? How can I set up the perfect photograph without my fingers going numb?

Working with a medium format camera is more complex compared to a 35mm camera. The sheer amount of detail it captures requires greater concentration and attention, especially with the dynamic range of the dark and light areas in these glacier scenes. The aim is to exploit the full potential of the camera.
